Mark Axon, Head of global operations at George commented: " With plenty of fresh insight and views, Claire was a real asset to the business during her placement. She played an instrumental role in developing planning tools which have since been adopted and proving essential to the smooth running of both our UK and global operations.
The structure of the Corporate Management degree has allowed us to train and nurture a very talented young business woman and offer her a management position straight from university. I'm sure she will go on to enjoy a very prosperous career with George."
Having played an active role in the global expansion of the George brand, Claire made numerous overseas trips during her two years of work-based learning, including visits to Argentina, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and the USA. Her role involved liaising with the design, buying and branding teams worldwide, to map out critical paths for products - a job which she has now been hired to do full - time as global communication & planning manager.
Claire said: " My degree provided a fantastic learning opportunity as I was able to apply my studies to a real business environment. As well as building up a valuable support network at both Newcastle Business School and George, I was also given the unique opportunity to travel all over the world. I'm really looking forward to continuing my career with George now that I've graduated."
